What this test measures
Correct and incorrect answers indicate knowledge of the concepts in this practice. They do not establish a trait profile, diagnosis or job fit.
- Write down what is given and what you need to find. A short sketch often makes the missing step visible.
- Try a small example before using a general rule. A counterexample can show that a tempting rule does not always work.
- Separate accuracy from speed. Solve carefully first, then repeat the method with a new example.
| Category | Questions in bank | What it covers |

A worked example
A notebook and a pen cost $7 together. The notebook costs $5 more than the pen. What does the pen cost?
- Call the pen's price p. The notebook then costs p + 5.
- Together they cost 2p + 5 = 7, so 2p = 2.
- The pen costs $1 and the notebook $6. Check both the total and the difference.
