What this test measures

Correct and incorrect answers indicate knowledge of the concepts in this practice. They do not establish a trait profile, diagnosis or job fit.

  1. Find the subject before choosing a verb. A phrase between the subject and verb does not change whether the subject is singular or plural.
  2. Two complete sentences need a full stop, a semicolon, or a suitable conjunction. A comma alone usually creates a comma splice.
  3. Use the surrounding sentence to test a word's meaning. A familiar-sounding word can still be the wrong choice.
